Mons from both countries paid a final tribute to Princess Galyani Vadhana, the elder sister of Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej, on Sunday in Bangkok.

At the mourning ceremony from the capital, Bangkok, Mon Buddhist monks together with 3000 Mon migrant workers who doffed their work clothes for their traditional garb of red and white sarongs alongside Thai Mons in black, led a procession , on October 12, 2008; reported a Kaowao reporter.

The Buddhist monks gave blessings and dancers performed a traditional Mon dance to accompany the princess on her final journey to the other world.

Princess Galyani Vadhana, the elder sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, passed away on January 2, 2008 at the age of 84 in Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital.

The princess is the elder sister of two kings of the Chakri Dynasty (Bangkok Dynasty), King Rama Ananda and the present King Bhumibol Adulyadej. She spoke five languages, loved to travel, and documented her many journeys in books.

According to the Royal Household Bureau, the royal funeral will take place at the Dusit Mahaprasart Throne inside the Grand Palace and the mourning period will last until the 100th day of her departure.
